Merced Bicyclist Hit By Car While Riding at Night

A Merced man was injured in a bicycle accident after he was struck by a woman driving along Alpine Street on Tuesday evening.
According to the Merced Sun-Star, 31-year-old Alecio Felix was riding along Alpine Street just east of G Street when he was hit by a 2005 maroon Toyota. Felix sustained injuries to his face, chest and arms as a result of the collision. He was taken to a Modesto hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
Merced police said the driver of the vehicle claimed she didn't see Felix, who was riding in the middle of the road. Police also said he was wearing dark clothing and didn't have any lights on his bicycle at the time of the accident.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Sgt.
