San Francisco Bicycle Accident Attorney

Local DJ remains hospitalized after being struck by hit-and-run driver.

A fundraising benefit is scheduled for a San Francisco DJ who was seriously injured after being involved in a bicycle accident.

According to SF Weekly, Christopher Evans, better known as DJ Toph One, was riding his bicycle around midnight on Sunday in the Ingleside area when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle at the corner of Ocean and Geneva. The driver of the car sped off, leaving Evans seriously injured. He suffered a broken pelvis in the bicycle accident and remains in intensive care.

Now, friends of Evans have scheduled several fundraising events to help raise money to pay for his medical care. According to a Facebook created for the event, a benefit is planned at Public Works on Jan. 20 at 9 p.m. and will feature sets by local artists J Boogie, Chris Orr, B Cause and others. Another event is scheduled for January 22 at Som Bar and will feature Sake One, DJ Stef, Doc Fu and Rascue.

Several firefighters reported witnessing the accident but were unable to provide a description of the vehicle or the driver. Anyone who may have more information about the accident is urged to contact the Police Department's anonymous tip line at 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.

While Mr. Evans is fortunate to have survived the accident, he likely faces a long road to recovery which may involve long-term hospitalization, extensive surgery and physical therapy. While his friends are working to raise funds to help offset some of these medical costs, it may not be enough to cover his care and any income he will lose as long as he is unable to work. Should the driver be identified, Mr. Evans may be able to recoup some of these costs by filing a personal injury lawsuit. If an arrest is made, he will hopefully contact a qualified bicycle accident injury lawyer to discuss his case.
